GQ45 Bar Cutting Machine Clutch Plate – Replacement Spare

This is the replacement clutch plate for the GQ45 bar cutting machine. The clutch is what engages and disengages the cutting stroke, so its friction plate wears with use and is replaced as a service part while the machine keeps running.

What it does and when to replace it

On a bar cutter the motor runs continuously, but the cutting stroke only happens when the operator engages it. The clutch is the part that makes that connection — it transmits torque from the running motor to the cutting mechanism on demand, then releases it. Because engaging means friction surfaces gripping against each other under load, the plate wears down over thousands of cuts.

Replace the clutch plate when the machine is slow to take up the cut, when the stroke slips or hesitates under load, when engagement becomes jerky rather than smooth, or when you smell burning or see glazing on the friction surface. A slipping clutch also makes the motor work harder, so replacing it promptly avoids a bigger repair.
