What it does and when to replace it

Shearing a 32 mm TMT bar puts a large force through the machine, and that force has to be resisted somewhere. The supporting plate in the boom plate assembly braces the bar against the cutting stroke — it is what holds the work steady so the blade shears cleanly rather than bending or dragging the bar. Mild steel is used because it takes repeated impact loading without cracking.

Replace it when the plate is visibly bent, gouged or worn at the bar seat, or when bars start to shift during the cut and leave angled or deformed ends. A worn support also throws extra load onto the blades, so replacing it protects the consumables downstream.
