Tamping Rammer Base Plate – RM 80
Tamping Rammer Base Plate – RM 80
The tamping rammer base plate (model RM 80) is the flat shoe at the bottom of the rammer foot that actually strikes the ground — a hard-iron plate reinforced with a wood cushioning layer that spreads each blow evenly and absorbs shock. It is the highest-wear part on the machine, taking every impact directly against soil and stone, so it is a routine replacement.
Fits
This base plate fits the RM 80 rammer foot used on the Jamshedji Honda GX160 petrol tamping rammer and diesel tamping rammer. Send your machine model or a photo on WhatsApp if you are unsure which part you need.
What it does and when to replace it
The base plate is the striking face of the rammer. Every blow the machine delivers passes through this plate into the ground, so it wears faster than anything else on the rammer — the hard-iron face abrades against soil and aggregate, and the wood layer that cushions the plate against the foot compresses and splits over time.
Replace it when the striking face is worn thin or uneven, or when the wood layer has broken up. A worn or dished plate compacts unevenly and passes more shock into the foot assembly; a plate worn through can damage the foot itself. It is a bolt-on replacement, so keeping a spare avoids a machine standing idle.

Frequently asked questions
Which tamping rammer does this base plate fit?
The RM 80 rammer foot, used on the Jamshedji Honda petrol and diesel tamping rammers. Send your machine model on WhatsApp if you are not sure.
Why does it have a wood layer?
The wood sits between the hard-iron striking plate and the foot as a cushioning layer, absorbing shock so the impact is not passed harshly into the foot assembly. It is a sacrificial part that wears with the plate.
How do I know it needs replacing?
The striking face is worn thin, dished or uneven, or the wood layer has split or broken up. A worn plate compacts unevenly and passes more shock into the machine.
Is this a genuine part?
Yes, supplied by Jamshedji Constro Equip, the manufacturer of the rammers it fits.
What is the price of a tamping rammer base plate?
Send your rammer model on WhatsApp for current pricing and freight.
