What it does and when to replace it

A bar bending machine works by rotating a bending pin around a fixed centre pin, with the bar held between them. The centre pin is the pivot the whole bend forms around — it holds the bar's position and takes the reaction force as the bar is pulled into its angle. Every bend loads it, so the pin gradually wears, scores or goes out of round.

Replace the centre pin when bend angles start coming out inconsistent, when you can see grooving, flat spots or scoring on the pin surface, or when there is visible play at the pivot. A worn centre pin loses bending accuracy first and puts uneven load on the machine's gearbox second, so replacing it on time is what keeps both the work and the machine right.
