The Jamshedji 600 mm power trowel edger is a compact petrol concrete floater driven by a 5.5 HP Honda GX160 engine, built to finish the parts of a slab a full-size trowel cannot reach. At 600 mm working width and 65 kg it works right up against walls, columns, kerbs and slab edges, in lift lobbies, stair landings, narrow bays and small pours. Variable speed runs from 60 to 125 rpm.

Why an edger is a separate machine
A 1000 mm trowel leaves an unfinished band around the perimeter of every slab. That band has to be closed by hand, and hand-trowelled edges rarely match the machine-finished field — you can see the difference across a warehouse floor once it cures, and on specification work it gets picked up at handover.
The 600 mm edger closes that band with the same rotating blade action as the main trowel, so the perimeter matches the field. It also handles the areas a big machine cannot enter at all: lift lobbies, service corridors, plant rooms, stair landings, small residential pours and anywhere the slab is cut up by columns.
Most flooring contractors run an edger alongside a full-size trowel rather than instead of one. The pair is what gets a whole floor finished to one standard.

Run the edger alongside a full-size machine. On open sites without power, that is the 1000 mm petrol power trowel or the heavy duty petrol power trowel. Indoors on ordinary mains, the single phase power trowel; on three-phase with separate float and finish speeds, the dual speed power trowel. On large industrial floors the ride on trowel (ROT) covers the field and the edger still does the perimeter.

Do I need an edger if I already have a 1000 mm power trowel?

How close to a wall can it finish?
The 600 mm pan lets the machine work right up to the edge of the slab, leaving far less hand work than a full-size trowel.
Can it be used as the only trowel on a small job?
Yes. On small residential pours, driveways and confined areas it can finish the whole slab on its own. On larger floors it is faster to run it alongside a 1000 mm machine.
Can it be used indoors?
Not in enclosed spaces. It runs on petrol and produces exhaust fumes, so indoor and basement work needs one of the electric trowels.
