The Jamshedji petrol power trowel is a walk-behind concrete floating and finishing machine with a 1000 mm working width, driven by a 5.5 HP Honda GX160 petrol engine. Also called a power floater, it replaces manual hand-trowelling on RCC slabs, warehouse floors, pavements and industrial flooring. Because it runs on petrol rather than mains power, it works on open sites, remote locations and slabs with no electrical supply. Weight is 75 kg.

Choosing the right trowel
Use this petrol model where there is no reliable power supply. If you are working indoors, in a basement, or anywhere exhaust fumes are a problem, choose the single phase power trowel or the dual speed power trowel instead — electric machines produce no fumes. For finishing slab edges, corners and columns that a 1000 mm pan cannot reach, add the compact 600 mm power trowel edger. On floor areas above roughly 1,000 sqm per pour, the twin-rotor ride on trowel (ROT) finishes far faster than any walk-behind.

What is a power trowel used for?
A power trowel floats and finishes fresh concrete after it has been screeded and has begun to set. It closes the surface, removes float marks and produces the smooth, hard-wearing finish required on warehouse floors, industrial slabs and pavements — work that would otherwise be done by hand with a trowel.
Should I buy a petrol or an electric power trowel?
Petrol for open sites with no power supply and for larger pours. Electric for indoor work, basements and enclosed areas where engine exhaust is unacceptable. The finish quality is the same; the difference is where you can run the machine.
What area can one power trowel cover?
Coverage depends on slab size, mix, weather and how many passes the specification calls for, so no single figure applies. As a rule of thumb, a 1000 mm walk-behind suits pours up to roughly 1,000 sqm; beyond that a ride-on trowel is more economical on labour and time.
When should the trowel be run on the concrete?
After the bleed water has gone and the slab supports a footprint of a few millimetres. Too early and the pan sinks; too late and the surface will not close. Start at low rpm with the pan disc for floating, then move to blades at higher rpm for finishing.
What is the difference between the blades and the float pan?
The float pan is a full disc fitted over the blades for the first floating pass on soft concrete. Blades alone are used for the finishing passes once the slab has hardened. Most jobs need both.
Why is a Honda GX160 engine specified?
Because service and spares are available anywhere in India. On a site machine, engine parts availability matters more than headline power.
