The Jamshedji bar decoiling and straightening machine takes 4–12 mm TMT or carbon steel coil and decoils, straightens, measures and cuts it to length in one continuous operation, at 35–45 metres per minute. Built for steel processing yards, reinforcement centres and precast plants, it runs a 7.5 HP three-phase motor with a hydraulic flying shear and digital length control accurate to ±2 mm. Weight is 980 kg.

Key specifications at a glance

  • Capacity: 4–12 mm TMT / carbon steel coil
  • Straightening speed: 35–45 m/min, variable speed option
  • Motor: 7.5 HP heavy-duty copper-wound, three phase
  • Cutting: hydraulic flying shear with length encoder
  • Length accuracy: ±2 mm
  • Weight: 980 kg

Why buy coil instead of cut lengths

Coiled steel costs less per tonne than straight bar, and it comes without the offcuts. Bar bought in fixed lengths leaves an end-piece on every cutting list that is too short to use — waste that is paid for at full rate and often ends up as scrap.

A decoiler removes that. It draws from a continuous coil and cuts exactly the length the schedule calls for, so the only steel consumed is the steel in the drawing. Across a yard running stirrups, links and small-diameter bar in volume, the saving on both material price and offcut waste is what pays for the machine.

Doing the same job by hand — unrolling coil, straightening it, measuring and cutting — is slow and inconsistent, and coil that has not been properly straightened will not feed cleanly into a bending machine afterwards.

Key features

  • Dual-channel feed rollers pull heavy coil without slipping
  • Micro-computer length control holding cuts to ±2 mm
  • High-pressure hydraulic flying shear gives clean, square ends
  • Hardened high-chrome alloy straightening rollers resist wire friction
  • Variable speed across the 35–45 m/min working range
  • 7.5 HP copper-wound three-phase motor for continuous yard duty
  • 980 kg base keeps the machine stable at full feed speed

Where it fits in the fabrication yard

The decoiler sits at the front of the line, turning coil into straight cut lengths. What happens next depends on the shape: straight bar goes to the GW42 bar bending machine for cranks and hooks, or to the CNC automatic stirrup bending machine for links and stirrups produced in volume.

For bar that arrives as straight lengths rather than coil, cutting is done on a GQ45 bar cutting machine. Bent and reclaimed bar can be recovered on the scrap bar straightening machine.

Frequently asked questions

What is a bar decoiling and straightening machine used for?

It converts coiled steel into straight, cut-to-length bar in one pass — decoiling, straightening, measuring and shearing automatically. Yards use it to produce stirrup and link material from coil rather than buying fixed-length bar.

What bar sizes does it handle?

4 mm to 12 mm TMT or carbon steel coil. Larger diameters arrive as straight bar and are cut on a bar cutting machine instead.

How accurate are the cut lengths?

Within ±2 mm, controlled by a length encoder and micro-computer control box. That accuracy matters because cut length errors carry straight through into the finished stirrup dimensions.

How fast does it run?

35 to 45 metres per minute, with a variable speed option so the rate can be matched to the material and the downstream bending operation.

Does buying coil actually save money?

Generally yes, on two counts: coil costs less per tonne than straight bar, and it removes the unusable offcut left at the end of every fixed-length bar. The saving scales with volume, so it suits yards running stirrups and links continuously.

What power supply does it need?

Three phase, driving a 7.5 HP motor. Confirm the yard supply can carry the starting load before delivery.
