Power Trowel Float Disc – 980mm, 4 Claw, Walk Behind Trowels

This is the 980 mm float disc for walk-behind power trowels — 3 mm heavy-duty steel with a 4-claw mounting system. The disc fits over the trowel blades to convert the machine from finishing to floating, and is replaced when it wears thin or distorts.

What it does and when to replace it

A power trowel does two different jobs. Floating comes first — flattening and consolidating the surface while the concrete is still soft — and finishing comes after, burnishing it smooth. Blades alone are too narrow for floating; they would cut into soft concrete rather than ride across it. The float disc solves this by presenting one continuous 980 mm flat plate, spreading the machine's weight and letting it pass over green concrete without gouging.

Replace the disc when it has worn noticeably thinner, when the surface is scored or pitted enough to mark the slab, or when it has warped out of flat — a bowed disc leaves a corresponding pattern in the floor. Check the claw fixings too: a loose mount transmits vibration and wears both disc and blades faster.
