Why ride-on changes the compaction economics
Walk-behind rollers finish smaller work, but the operator is walking every metre of every pass — and eight hours of that in the sun is the point where compaction quality starts dropping, not because the machine can't do it but because the person can't.

Frequently asked questions
Ride-on or walk-behind roller — how do I choose?
By how long the crew has to work. A walk-behind is fine for small pours, patches and short strips; on a full-day car park or road job, the operator on a ride-on stays productive when a walk-behind crew is already fading. The 5 tonne weight also applies more compaction force per pass than a 3 tonne walk-behind.
Can it compact asphalt as well as soil?
Yes. The 25 litre water tank sprays the drums specifically to stop hot asphalt sticking, so it works for asphalt overlay and patching at scale as well as soil and gravel.
Why is the front drum larger than the back?
Front-heavy drum arrangement puts the main compaction force at the front of the machine, which suits the way the operator sees the pass and the machine tracks a strip. Both drums vibrate.
How is a 790 kg roller transported to site?
On a pickup or small truck with ramps, or trailer-mounted for longer moves.
Does it have reverse?
Yes. Forward and reverse are available from the seat, so the operator works along a strip and reverses back at the end rather than turning the machine.
Why diesel rather than petrol?
Diesel runs longer per litre and is usually already stocked on infrastructure sites for the plant fleet, which makes refuelling simpler.
