Bar Threading Machine CDRG45 – Rebar Coupler Threading 16 to 40mm

The CDRG45 bar threading machine cuts parallel threads onto TMT rebar from 16 mm to 40 mm so that bars can be joined with mechanical couplers instead of lapped. Built by Jamshedji Constro Equip at MIDC Bhosari, Pune, it runs a 7.5 HP motor through a 1:17 reducer, rolls threads up to 120 mm long, and uses magnet sensor control with a fast-adjusting nose for quick diameter changes. Weight is 480 kg.

Why thread rebar instead of lapping it

A lapped splice needs an overlap of 40 to 60 bar diameters. On 32 mm bar that is well over a metre of steel per joint, doing nothing but transferring load — bought, cut, transported and tied into place.

A threaded coupler joins the bars end to end. The steel saved on laps is immediate and measurable, congestion at column and beam junctions drops sharply, and concrete flows properly around a coupled cage where a lapped one is often choked. On tall columns, heavy foundations and bridge piers, coupling is frequently what makes the reinforcement buildable at all.

Once the project is specified for couplers, the threading machine is not optional equipment — every bar end has to be threaded before it can be joined.

Where it is used

High-rise column reinforcement, bridge and flyover piers, metro viaducts, heavy raft and pile-cap foundations, precast connections, and any project where the structural drawings specify mechanical couplers rather than lap splices. Threading is normally set up in the bar fabrication yard alongside the GQ50 bar cutting machine and GW50 bar bending machine, since bar is cut to length before it is threaded.

Rollers, couplers and spares

Threading rollers are the wear item and are matched to bar diameter: 16 / 18 / 20 / 22 mm rollers and 25–32 mm rollers are both stocked in Pune, along with the Delixi JLXK1-411 limit switch. Matching TMT rebar coupler sleeves in 16, 20, 25 and 32 mm are available to complete the joint.
