The Jamshedji double beam screed board vibrator is a 4.2 metre twin-beam vibrating screed with a 2 HP electric motor driving vibration through two parallel mild-steel beams spaced 410 mm apart. It covers wider slabs than a single-beam machine and finishes them denser, because the trailing beam re-strikes what the leading beam laid down. Height 125 mm. Twin control handles. Made in Pune.

Key specifications at a glance

  • Length: 4.2 metres
  • Width: 410 mm (twin beams)
  • Motor: 2 HP electric
  • Beam height: 125 mm
  • Material: mild steel
  • Handles: 2 (twin-operator control)

Why the second beam changes the finish

A single-beam screed does one thing at a time: vibrate the concrete and drag a straight edge across it. That works, but the finish is only ever as good as the first pass — if the pull rate wavers, the surface takes an impression of it, and any air voids not driven out on the way through stay put.

A double beam has two straight edges rigidly connected 410 mm apart, both vibrating. The leading beam strikes off and compacts the surface; the trailing beam refinishes what the first left behind — so any inconsistency in the first pass gets absorbed by the second. You get a denser, flatter, more evenly finished slab from a single working pull.

The 4.2 m length is the other point of it. Where a 3 m single beam handles slab bays or narrower widths in one pull, the 4.2 m double beam covers wider industrial floors, warehouse bays and larger commercial pours without splitting the surface into strips that then need to be joined visually.

Key features

  • Twin 4.2 m mild-steel beams — one striking pass leaves both compacted and finished surface
  • 2 HP electric motor centrally mounted for balanced vibration across full beam length
  • 125 mm beam height gives structural rigidity across the 4.2 m span
  • Twin control handles — one operator at each end for consistent pull rate
  • Mild steel construction for durability against wet aggregate
  • Suited to wider slabs where a 3 m single beam requires multiple parallel pulls

Which screed vibrator for the slab

All three Jamshedji screed vibrators do the same underlying job — the choice is about slab size, finish quality and site conditions.

  • Electric single beam (3 m) — small to mid-sized slabs where 220 V mains are on site.
  • Petrol single beam (3 m) — same 3 m blade, Honda GX35 petrol engine, for remote and greenfield sites.
  • This double beam (4.2 m) — wider slabs, higher finish quality, twin beams striking the surface twice per pass.

For large industrial floors and warehouse slabs where flatness specifications matter (F-numbers, FF/FL), move up to the walk behind laser screed or the ride on laser screed, which level without screed rails.

Applications

Warehouse and industrial floor slabs, commercial building slabs, precast production of larger elements, road and highway slab work, driveway and pavement pours where finish quality matters, and any slab where the choice is between one wider clean pull with a double beam and two overlapping pulls with a single beam.

Frequently asked questions

What does a double beam screed vibrator do that a single beam does not?

The trailing beam re-strikes and re-vibrates what the leading beam laid down, so inconsistencies from the first pass are absorbed by the second. The finished slab is denser and flatter than a single-pull pass would leave it.

When should I choose the double beam?

When slab width exceeds a comfortable 3 m single pull, or when finish quality matters — commercial floors, warehouse slabs, precast production. Below those, the single-beam machines are the right tool.

What is the beam spacing?

410 mm between the two beams, which sets how the trailing beam engages the surface behind the leading beam.

Why the extra height on the beams?

125 mm beam height gives structural rigidity across the 4.2 m length so the beams do not sag under their own weight. A sagging beam leaves a dished slab.

What power supply does it need?

The 2 HP motor runs on standard site electrical supply. Confirm phase and voltage with the quotation depending on your local supply.

Do I still need a power trowel afterwards?

For most floor finishes, yes. The screed vibrator prepares a dense, flat slab; the power trowel then floats and finishes the surface as it starts to set.
