This is the 60 mm × 4 m needle for a concrete vibrator — the poker head and 4 metre flexible shaft that attaches to a needle vibrator drive and goes into the wet concrete. It is the same heavy-duty 60 mm diameter as the 6 m needle, but with a shorter 4 m shaft that is lighter and easier to handle on shallower mass-concrete work where full depth reach is not needed.
Fits
This needle attaches to the Jamshedji needle vibrator drives — the 7.5 HP petrol, 6 HP petrol and 3 HP single-phase electric drives, all of which accept 60 mm dies. A larger needle asks more of the drive, so the more powerful petrol drives are the better match for continuous heavy work. What it does and which pour it suits
The needle is the working end of a vibrator system: the drive spins it, and its high-frequency vibration liquefies the surrounding concrete so trapped air rises out and the mix flows tight around the bars. It is a wear part — head and shaft abrade in wet concrete and are replaced when the head wears or the shaft stiffens or fails.
The 60 mm head is for mass concrete: large foundations, thick rafts and high-volume pours with open reinforcement, where its wide radius per insertion finishes the pour faster. This 4 m shaft is the length to choose for shallower mass slabs and sections — lighter and easier to work than the 6 m, which is reserved for deep pours and columns. Same head, so the same consolidation; you are matching reach to depth. On congested steel, step down to the 35 mm needle.
