The 70 mm needle is the top of the range and needs a drive that takes a 70 mm die — on the Jamshedji range that is the 6 HP petrol drive, which is rated for 35–70 mm needles. A large head at full power is demanding work, so a petrol drive is the right partner. What it does and which pour it suits

The needle is the working end of a vibrator system: the drive spins it, and its high-frequency vibration liquefies the surrounding concrete so trapped air rises out and the mix flows tight around the bars. It is a wear part — head and shaft abrade in wet concrete and are replaced when the head wears or the shaft stiffens or fails.

The 70 mm head is for the largest pours: big raft foundations, dam and infrastructure work, thick industrial slabs and any high-volume concrete with open reinforcement. Its wide radius per insertion means fewer insertions and faster consolidation across a big pour — which is exactly what matters when a large volume of concrete has a limited working time before it stiffens. It only fits where the steel is open enough to admit a 70 mm head; on congested rebar, step right down to the 35 mm.
