Why a suspended platform for facade work

Above a certain height, scaffolding stops making sense. A full scaffold up a tower is a large cost, takes significant time to erect and dismantle, occupies ground space that a tight urban plot rarely has, and stays in place whether or not it is being used. For work on the face of a finished or nearly finished building — painting, glazing, cladding, sealant, cleaning, repairs — you need access to a moving band of the facade, not a permanent structure covering all of it.

A suspended platform gives exactly that. It hangs from roof-mounted supports held by cement counterweights and travels up and down the face at 9 m/min, so the crew works at whatever level the job is at and moves on. The 7.5 m platform length means a wide section of facade is reachable without repositioning the rig, which is where much of the time on this kind of work is otherwise lost.

Safety

This is working-at-height equipment carrying personnel, so the safety systems are not an accessory to it — they are the point. The unit is supplied with safety locks for fall protection and a cement counterweight system for stable suspension. Installation, counterweight calculation, anchorage and inspection must be carried out by competent persons in accordance with applicable regulations and the site's own safety requirements, and operators must be trained and use appropriate fall-arrest equipment.
